Kingston University Fifth Team Dominate Roehampton in Derby Day Clash

Kingston men's football fifth team have maintained their unbeaten start to the season.

Wednesday saw the visit of local rivals Roehampton, who were in second before the game began. Kingston's second half dominance however led to an impressive 4-1 victory that has cemented their place at the top of the league.

Mark Woor, team captain, was delighted with his team's second half performance. "I was really pleased with the way the team played after a scrappy first half. We finally got the ball down and played some good stuff."

The game had a definite derby day feel to it with strong tackles and a battling mentality from both sides. Kingston took an early lead through a Jamal Graham goal but parity was restored close to half-time in a closely contested first period.

The second half began in the best possible way for Kingston with another goal for Jamal Graham restoring their lead. This lead gave Kingston the confidence to push onwards and soon after Guyaan Assomi doubled the advantage volleying home a Richard Bradley corner.

Kingston used this two goal advantage to force home their dominance and following some intricate play down the left side between Richard Bradley, Adam Newbury and David Ruffel, Newbury made it 4-1 and secured victory for the home side.

This performance embodies the team's spirit this year and with a home game against South Eastern Conference 7C's bottom side in two weeks Mark Woor has reason to be confident about the rest of the season.
