Kingston 8-0 Southbank

Kingston University men's fifths continued their winning start to the season with a resounding 8-0 victory over Southbank University thirds.

Southbank conceded six in a second half collapse, having been two down at half time. Kingston overcame the windy conditions with good teamwork, the highlight of which was Adam Newbury's slotted finish after Richard Bradley's superb run down the left flank.

Mark Woor, team captain, said: "Our passing game in the second half was unstoppable, any team would have found it hard to handle."

Most of Southbank's chances came on the break, with Adam Tourke making some good saves to earn a clean sheet. Kingston were without striker Jamal Graham, but Gyuaan Assomi took charge up front, dominating Southbank's centre backs to net his second hatrick of the season.

Mike Graves was a powerful presence in the centre of midfield for Kingston, winning tackles and commanding the aerial battle. This allowed Kingston to get the ball on the floor and take charge with their passing game. Newbury netted his second of the game and Freddy Assomi and Manel Ventura also got on the score sheet. Second half substitute Memhet Sasmaz opened his account for the season with a great goal to complete the rout.

The win maintains Kingston's 100 per cent record at the top of the BUCs South Eastern Seventh Conference, with four wins from four. They have so far scored twenty five league goals and conceded only two. The fifths are in a rich vein of form, and recently beat Kingston University fourth team 6-1.
