15:10 Motion to provide all university staff with at Least the London Living Wage is passed.

15:14 "To be honest I have a very busy lifestyle and can only concentrate on my work." Ahmed-Egypt Elzanaty, Foundation Year, Aerospace Engineering, explains why he can't be at the meeting on Facebook.

15:01 Motion to ban armed forces from promoting on campus is being discussed. Comment from the floor: "We're all grown up enough to make our own choices" said one.

14:42  “I probably would have gone if I’d known,”  Hashim Ali, 3rd year course rep for Biomedical Science, comments on Facebook.

14:38 SU aiming for a budget surplus of £34,000 in 2009/10.

14:30 Rhiannon Hiscocks finishes. Presentation of Annual Report starts. Third year in a row of deficit. SU made a loss of £25,398 in 2008-9.

14:22 Rihannon Hiscocks said: We shouldn't have to choose between academic activities and sports representation.

14:14 Hassan Barakat finishes. VP Activities, Rhiannon Hiscocks starts.

14:13 Kayleigh Pickering finishes. VP Communications and Campaigns, Hassan Barakat starts to speak.

14:08 TJ Esubiyi finishes. VP Support, Kayleigh Pickering, comes on.

14:07 SU President, TJ Esubiyi, said: "£18,000 has been spent on renting sports facilities this year alone."

14:05 People leave. 96 people now - not enough to be quorate. Minutes from the last meeting passed, without comment.

14:04 Quorate - there are enough people to pass a motion.

14:02 Sir Peter finishes answering questions.

14:02 Business and Management student, Alessandro Biamonti, comments on the RiverOnline Facebook page:  “I had no idea it was on. What was this meeting about?”

13:54 Sir Peter said: He has not had a message from a united student union voice that sports facilities are a priority.

13:51 Sir Peter said: We've made improvements in education, the library and student accomodation. These are recognised as our number one priorities.

13:42 Sir Peter's speech: He is against a rise in tuition fees. Kingston is a growing brand. Sports provision is not a question of money, but in the case of indoor sports it is a question of space. He defended the decision to move graduation to the Rose Theatre.

13:35 Sir Peter: We want graduations to be in Kingston. Very few universities which could have graduations in their own town would choose not to do so. We want more but smaller graduation ceremonies and they need to be in the summer shortly after people have finished their courses.

13:30 Sir Peter said he has “no moral right” to charge people tuition fees. Poorer families are put off by fees, and it creates a friction between the university and students.

However if there is a change in the law, Kingston would charge the higher fees, because otherwise there would be a hole in the budget. It is also about Kingston’s reputation - not wanting to provide a cheap product.
Conclusion - students should campaign for what they believe in.

13:26 Good turnout from the sports teams apparently. Three line whip form the Support Our Sports Campaign, perhaps?

13:18 Vice Chancellor, Sir Peter Scott's, address being used to stall for time. Not enough people to authorise the minutes yet.

13:20 We are up to 82. Where are the students?
