Chef Seized from Kingston Restaurant
The UK Border Agency raided a Kingston restaurant last week, seizing an illegal worker.
Uniformed officers, wearing body armour and carrying batons, marched through Frankie & Benny's in the Rotunda complex on Friday and arrested a Brazilian chef.
Paula, the restaurant manager, said: “I can neither confirm nor deny that anything has happened.”
Adam Edwards, of the UK Border Agency, told RiverOnline: “This is one of a number of operations taking place today.”

Employers have a legal responsibility to make sure that anyone they take on is eligible to work in the UK. If these checks are not carried out diligently they could face an unlimited fine or two years imprisonment.
The restaurant maintains that they received documentation from the man concerned which later turned out to be fraudulent.
A statement released by the restaurant after the incident said: "Frankie & Benny’s have an extremely robust employment policy and work closely with the UK Border Agency at all times."
