Twi-Hard Midnight Madness Hits Kingston
The Odeon cinema was packed to the rafters last night with Kingston students and residents for the midnight screening of a vampire film sequel.
Over 1000 Twilight fans filled four screens for the first glimpse of the second film in the Twilight series, New Moon screened at precisely 00.01am.
Stella Taliadoros, a third year Psychology and Criminology student, explained why she was missing her beauty sleep: “It's because of all the excitement of waiting all day to see it. There’s just a better atmosphere!"
Stella was not the only student eagerly anticipating the event. Duygu Ulusay, third year Creative Writing and Journalism student, said: “I wanted to be the first to see it and not have to hear everyone drone on about how great it is on their Facebook status.”
With queues at the concessions stand more suited to a Friday night in The King’s Tun, the Rotunda venue was full of dedicated Team Edward and Team Jacob members determined to be some of the first Twi-Harders to watch the action.
Emily Knight, a third year Human Biology student, said: “I have the books and want to be the first to see it. We’re on a house night out!”
The promised torso shots of R-Pattz and Taylor Lautner did not disappoint, creating appreciative giggles throughout the largely female audience at the sold out screenings.
Caroline Doyle, a third year Human Rights student, said: “I love Robert Pattinson.”
Kingston Odeon is providing nearly 20 opportunities to see New Moon today (Friday), along with 15 opportunities both days this weekend and a long run to satisfy every fan’s appetite.
