KU student Carmen narrowly escaped a knife attack. To her surprise the attacker was a woman.

"Out of the blue this woman came up to us shouting ‘girls aren’t supposed to sit on the pavement like that’. She got angrier and angrier and started shouting and swearing.

I didn’t take her seriously. I think if it had been a man I would probably have reacted differently. The fact that it was a woman, on her own - I found that totally unthreatening."

But the woman had a knife.
