I think I love my lecturer

They teach us, inspire us, challenge us and bore us. Lecturers can be anything from role models to people we are happy to get rid of after graduation. But for some of us, they take on a slightly more exciting role.
Kingston student Diane* is infatuated with her Film Studies lecturer. “I’m in love with his brain more than anything else,” she says. “Intelligence is sexy and he is sooo intelligent and so enthusiastic about what he does. I think I am slightly obsessed. I have found myself following him down the corridor and then thinking ‘what the hell am I doing?’.”
Like many others, Diane has chosen Google as her weapon of choice for tracking down photos and information about her lecturer’s private life. But the phenomenon does not only affect girls. In his first year, Daniel’s testosterone levels flared up whenever he saw a particular English Literature lecturer. “She used to wear all black clothes and she was just really hot – you don’t often get that with other lecturers.”
