Gears of War 2

Marcus Fexis and Delta Squad are back in this hotly anticipated sequel to 2006’s Gears of War.

Similarly a tactical third person shooter, the game takes place six months after its prequel, where the detonated Lightmass Bomb that should have saved humanity from the Locust Horde, has only bought the human race a little time against the relentless subterranean enemy.

To top it off, a deadly virus called ‘rust-lung’ has been created by the aftermath of the bomb and with the locusts now capable of creating city wide emergence holes, it is up to the Delta Squad to save fictional planet Sera from impending doom.

Little Big Planet

Though at heart Little Big Planet is based on a simple platform style, the concept has been reworked to produce this fairly unique game.

Exclusively for the Playstation 3, you take the role of Sackboy, a curious looking ‘knitted’ creature, where you play through various un-lockable levels, making use of anything your heart desires to aid your level score.

The story mode has been commented on as being quite short, but there are fully customisable levels that up to three of your friends can visit to occupy you and if that isn’t enough, Stephen Fry is commentator throughout the game!

Professor Layton and the Curious Village

The Nintendo DS exclusive game is the first instalment of the Professor Layton series. In it, you follow the Professor and his assistant Luke around the village of St. Mystere, who are searching for the elusive ‘golden apple’.

Along the way, you are asked to investigate other mysteries that crop up, each solved by completing one of 100+ puzzles included in the game. Described as a ‘point and click’ DS game, the Curious Village’s engrossing game play and captivating storyline is sure to make it a hit.

Guitar Hero World Tour

The latest instalment in the guitar hero series, this game takes your skills as a rock star even further by providing you with a full band to play with.

Similar to Rock Band, a player is now able to take on the roll of the drummer, guitarist, singer or bassist. Though the full kit is not out until November 14, the game is available now and is fully compatible with guitar hero guitars.

New songs include Misery Business by Paramore, a selection of Tool songs and BYOB by System of a Down, so whether you’re a seasoned player or a newbie, you are sure to find at least one song on the game to rip into.
