As RiverOnline enters into its seventh week and the term draws to an end a new Editor takes charge and will continue to build momentum and connect with you, the reader.
Over the last six weeks we have developed increasing interaction with students from all campuses thanks to our many promotion events within the university and around Kingston. We have tried to portray your thoughts, concerns and vision for the uni, to be your eyes and ears and bring all the latest news stories and information.
Our editors and reporters have brought you recipes, film, theatre, music and game reviews, bar and restaurant reviews, interviews with bands and authors, local events, sport news, your photos and advice and tips on our local area in the current financial climate. Our new comment forum is ready to launch and we very much look forward to hearing more of your views.
Over 70% of readers in the last week voted that military recruitment should not be banned from the university despite the fact the Student Union passed a motion to do exactly that. Usually the student council decides policy as not enough students turn up to SU meetings - are Kingston students’ voices really being heard? We have received many emails from students who wish to contribute to the site and encourage those interested to continue emailing us. Comment on any story on RiverOnline by logging in and use our ‘send to a friend’ option to pass on our latest updates. We recently received an email from Tbilisi State University, Georgia who after viewing RiverOnline “strongly wish to have relations with students from Kingston University” and to “organise international events together.” We hope the site continues to bring students together, anywhere in the world, through the sharing of latest news and entertainment.
This week’s news includes threats to student and staff’s free parking in an attempt to encourage greener methods of travel, Kingston Science students raise £400 for Children In Need with their disco dance moves and figures released show unemployment hits 18-25 year olds the hardest though Kingston recruitment agencies remain optimistic . Stay in the know with our daily updates. This has been a fantastic term as Editor and all involved can’t wait to continue contributing, with your help, to our growing site in January. Look for an update of our new Editorial team under our ‘comment’ section over New Year.
